Creative photography is the art of understanding a subject and capturing it's very essence in an image that is both a work of art and a permanent record of a special moment, frozen forever in time.
With over 20 years experience in the field of photography, Alan Cox brings a highly distinctive style to his images, each one shot & lit using techniques selected specifically to capture and highlight the unique qualities of its individual subject.
Be it a beautiful Femme Fatale or the graceful lines of a World War II Spitfire, Alan's fascination with the portrayal of timeless elegance is the driving force behind his photography.

General portraiture
Each of Alan's portraits are approached and created individually to provide a unique reflection of the subject's personality.
By creating an informal & relaxed atmosphere during his shoots, Alan focuses on ensuring that his subjects get as much enjoyment as possible from the experience of having their portrait taken, and this contributes greatly to the relaxed apperance of the finished images.

Fantasy portraiture
Following a glamorous makeover, be it in contemporary style or as a mysterious Femme Fatale from another era, fantasy portraits are a great way to capture the extremes of a model's personality.
As part of a modelling portfolio or just as a talking point for the apartment wall, these images have really allowed Alan's subjects to express themselves.

Digital artworks
Digital photography combined with the latest in photo manipulation techniques, offers an almost unlimited scope in the creation of fantasy artworks.
The images shown here were all created by working to a concept, first by collecting a number of different photographic 'ingredients', often from entirely different locations, and then digitally shaping, colouring and blending them together into the finished image.
They say the camera never lies, but as for photoshop.......
Location shoots
Shooting outwith the controlled environment of the studio can be both technically demanding and artistically rewarding.
The use of natural light enhanced by portable flash equipment to capture a model against a location backdrop offers great diversity in the style and content of the images which can be produced.
The need to react to changing conditions and to improvise by simply using what is around you makes for a more spontaneous and highly creative form of photography.
Travel photography
Travel photography offers an exciting range of challenges & oportunities for the creative photographer.
Blending landscape & architectural photography to provide a form of artistic reportage requires a highly diverse skills set.
Having travelled extensively across Europe, the far East and the United States, Alan has had the pleasure of capturing both the beauty of nature and man-made wonders across the globe.
Aviation photography
Having spent many years crewing airworthy historic aircraft based at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, Alan has an understanding and appreciation of the subject that adds considerably to his photographic prowess in the field.
With experience in both 'air to air' and 'ground to air' photography, his passion for aviation is conveyed in his work and results in images which represent far more than technical studies.
